Brillantmont International School

Brillantmont, owned by the founding family since 1882,   is in the centre of Lausanne, a dynamic city on the shores of Lake Léman, just 40 minutes from Geneva International Airport. It welcomes 100 boarding students and 40 day students aged 11-18 who come from over 40 different countries (nationality quotas in place).  The small size of the school is without doubt a strength as it creates a welcoming environment in which every student feels at home. The school welcomes students into Grades 7-12 and also offers a Post High School Programme.

After Middle School, students prepare courses leading to British examinations (IGCSE, AS, A Level ) or American diplomas (High School Graduation Diploma Grades with SAT, IELTS, TOEFL).  After Brillantmont, students enter universities all over the world. Extra support in English is given where necessary. Classes are taught in English but all students learn French, the host language. Small class sizes (max.15, average 9) and constant teacher support keep students focused on their objectives. Parents are kept informed of their child’s progress thanks to the private parent area on the school’s interactive website. Technology is widely incorporated into the classroom, which encourages the students to be active learners.

Rooms are large and comfortable and usually shared with another student. Numerous sports activities are offered such as tennis, uni-hockey, volleyball, basketball, football, zumba, trampoline and students are encouraged to join the school’s sports teams. After-school clubs in music, art, dance, photography, Model United Nations, humanitarian work for Habitat for Humanity and many more are offered. On weekends, excursions are organized in Switzerland and its neighbouring countries and in winter, the school takes advantage of its location to go skiing every weekend. A Summer Course for 10-17 year olds takes place in July and August to learn English or French in the mornings with sports in the afternoons and a full activity programme in the evenings and weekends. Students choose to stay for between two to six weeks, with arrivals and departures on Saturdays.
