Concordia International School Shanghai

Concordia International School Shanghai was started in 1998 to enrich the lives of students by challenging them to reach their highest potential in all aspects of life. Since its founding, the school has been blessed and now includes purpose-built facilities that highlight green technology on a campus that houses nearly 1, 300 students and 180 staff.

Fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), CISS provides the Shanghai expatriate community with a holistic, American-based, college-preparatory education for students from Pre-K through grade 12, including AP at the HS. Concordia is an Apple Regional Training Center where technology is fully integrated throughout the learning process in classrooms that have an average student teacher ratio of 18:1. Grades 7-12 participate in a one-to-one Apple laptop program and in grades Pre-K to 6 there is a 2:1 ratio of students to computers.

One of our greatest strengths is our community informed by the school’s Christian character. Sixty percent of our students and all overseas hired staff live within 1km of the campus. The school and teacher housing are located in the Pudong area of Shanghai which has developed over the past 20 years on the east side of river. Our neighborhood of Jinqiao is a green residential suburb. Teachers live close to the subway, 20-30 minutes by taxi from the city center, and 20 minutes from the Pudong International Airport by taxi and high-speed rail.
